apexi filter/ Green filter? Franken application-

Sup fellas! So I tried going to Pepboys to get a new K&N filter cone
so I could swap in between cleanings @ 10K intervals- and they told me
the part number was not in their system/ nor the catalog-wtf

So I figure I'll try the APEXI or the GREEN filtercones(some org member have these on their 2k2+) but cannot seem to find the part # or website
to get'm- So if any of you could get me a part number/website
that sells APEXI/GREEN that suits our frankencar application -
Thanx- you guys always come through-

P.S. I'd call frankencar but dont wanna wait 6 months for it-lol

i have used the rr-3003 for about a year now. looks nice and it fits perfectly in my setup. if you want a good sized k&n filter that is a bit cheaper then look at the ru-2820. that was the filter that came with my berk intake and i use it as a back up when im cleaning the other one.

Go to http://eautoworks.com. They sell universal apexi filters without the adapter. 81mm i believe. Not sure if all the Apexi filters are the same size. As far as swaping filters, I don't think you can w/apexi. Even though you have the Frankencar setup, you will need an adapter for the Apexi filter. Frankencar sells the Apexi filter with adapter for $120. This package is the last thing listed on their intake page.

I have to order through Frankencar because I purchased the filter from eautoworks only to be told that it would not fit without the adpater. Hope this helps. I have a weaponR sitting around just waiting to be installed. Kinda anxious to see how a weaponR+apexi setup sounds and performs!

Too answer your first question, I have a friend who has the Frankencar w/apexi setup and he loves it. He likes the sound and the fact that it's low maintenance. Also he doesn't have to worry about blowing a MAF.

if i may ask, why do you refer to the RU-2820 as "cheaper" than the RR-3003. do you just mean it's cheaper priced or you think it's cheaper in general (quality, but don't see how). to me, if it's k&n, if it fits, it'll do the same job as any other k&n filter that fits.

does k&n make lower quality filters?

i said cheaper based solely on price. there is typically about a $20 difference. the ru has a greater surface area but i swear i feel better response with the rr with both filters being clean.

I compared both filter, and went with the RR-3001 instead of the RU-xxxx basically of the "inverted design" RU has greater "side" surface area, but RR has the advantage of the filter being "all round" top and side, thus probably creates a better flow of the air coming it, from both the top and the side.

However, I have no proof one is better than the other. Maybe for some its better to save the $20 differents and go with the RU, because they might just be the same? I choice the one I think its better. Btw, I'm getting rid of my original Injen filter and replace it with RR-3001.........should be here anyday now....
