A small coil pack victory! (sort of long)

As with hundreds of others I too have been experiencing the pinging (like a diesel knock) with hesitation between 2000-3000 rpms. No SES light or anything. I read hundreds of posts on the whole coil problem associated with the 2000 Max and even spoke with Dave B. He was a tremendous amount of help and gave all the advice I needed. I'm in fricken northern north dakota (military) and I'm limited to one dealership (complete jerk offs). Immediately they gave me sh_t, especially when I mention I had mods, even "asked me how did I know it was the coils." Knowing they were gonna give me a rough time, I came armed with the TSB, the fact that almost 70% of 2000 Max owners have experienced the same problem, and the fact that neither my intake, exhaust, or any mod could be directly related to my coil problem. My car still has four months of warranty left, so the tech drove it, didn't even hook it up to the CONSULT that I know of and the Service Manager said he would order my six new coils and to expect them next week. End of subject. Went there for a battle and won. Don't worry I'm signing the petition right now.

I am originally from Minot ND myself but moved to MN. I know what dealership your talking about. I have a 2000 with 52,000 plus miles on it and I have had no such problems as this. I doubt you have seen my car there since only there for holidays but it's worth a try check my sig.

Yeah, Minot is okay just limited availability in both service and aftermarket equipment. The dealership actually acted like I tought them something...if I hadn't told them what the problem was I think my ride would still be there with a nice lengthy bill.

Hey, if you dont mind, let me know whether the hesitation dissapeared once the coils were replaced. I'm wondering because I already had the transmission hesitation tsb done, and while it definitely made a difference, it still doesn't feel "quite right." I'd like to know whether the new coils did anything for you..

Thanks

No problem...consider it done. Probably won't happen until next week. I'll keep you posted.
