The oxygen sensor wires

Hey guys,

I got the oxygen sensor code P0135 so I jacked up my car to see how I would remove it. I bought an oxygen sensor socket and barely got it to fit up there. However, the wires look like they are permanently attached to the sensor. I'm sure this isn't the case since it is a replacable part. So how do I remove the sensor from the wires? I haven't purchased the replacement sensor since I'm not currently sure that I'll be able to replace it myself.

BTW, what's up with the naming conventions? Why are the the sensors towards the front of the car are called "Rear" O2 sensors and vice versa? The O2 sensor that I'm trying to replace is Front O2, Bank 1. Is that before or after precat following the convention? Would you say this is before/at/or after the exhaust? I'm trying to buy the sensor from http://replacementparts.engineautoparts.com/ and these are my options. Which one is Front Bank 1?

Thanks.
