Ok i was driving today to school today in 5th gear, and i notice my Rpm went up my speed stayed the same, and now i noticed more. Is the clutch burned? I have 70,000miles on it its a 2000 Se.

That certainly sounds like a slipping clutch. I would inspect fluid and clutch travel to ensure that it is nothing obvious (like something preventing the pedel from going all the way up.) Then get it checked out by a pro soon. If it goes all the way, you could end up stranded.

Note: when car and driver did a long term test on 2kse, they ruined the clutch at 40k.

Yeah you might want to check your fluid you usually only notice clutch slippage in 2nd and 3rd gear i have noticed a few maximas that have came into the shop that have had slippage in 5th and it turned out there was fluid on the clutch disc which resulted in a ruined clutch so i would have that checked at a dealer.

I always think it... no 2 cars are the same. My max (2000 SE 5spd) has 109,100 miles on it, and the clutch is *still* going strong. Of course, I rev match and rarely ever burnout / floor it, but it goes to show that every car is different. But yeah, that sounds like a clutch going out. My friend had her clutch go out for the first time in a bone stock 95 (SE I think) at 140,000 miles, and the clutch started to 'give' really easily, and wouldn't 'catch' as well.

What do you guys suggest, A clutch right from the dealer, or ebay clutch, or if can find a nice racing clutch for cheap.. Ebay is $117.0
Dealer (Shop price) is 170.00 and still looking for a good racing clutch.

Any feed back would help thanks.
