I own a 2001 AE and a little confuse of installing this pop charger...last week i ran across a 2001 maxima owner with illustrated pictures and instructions on how to install. Now i can't find it, also how is it compared to the k&n drop in filter.

A pop charger replaces some of your stock intake (namely the part where the drop in panel would go). It will give you more high end power when compared to a stock intake or stock intake with k&n panel. You will also get a noticable growl at 3k rpms and higher. If you don't already have a pop charger and want to buy one, I'll sell you mine. I opted for a new DIY intake setup that we have dubbed the OSCAI (see the link in my sig).

I chose to also remove the snorkel when I installed my POP Intake. I found that the air box bracket on the front-right of the engine was the perfect size (with the rubber insert) to hold the air temp sensor. I did have to lenghen the wiring for this sensor to make it reach, but it looks VERY clean, not like something's missing as with the snorkel but no air box.
My only comment with the JWT intake is that it's pretty loud, especially at low RPMs while accelerating. The hissing is much louder than the K&N Filtercharger on my Eclipse. There is also a slight growl when you get on it, but that is very welcome as far as I'm concerned.
The performance gains aren't really noticable until you hit about 5k rpm, at which time you start to feel it. I'd still recommend getting one because it'll last forever and it looks sharp with the chrome end piece.
Good luck and happy modding!
