MAF dead, ECM reprogram?

Per my dealer, my MAF needs replacing in order to fix the way my car has been driving terribly recently, even tho no check engine light. He also says that the ECM needs to be re-programmed after the install for the computer to accept the new sensor. Anyone got any words on this? Those of you who have bought your new MAF's and installed them on your own........He quoted me $103.50 for the MAF and $75 for the install and reprogram.
