Are you talking about intakes or just drop-in filters?

I have the K&N Panel filter on mine and had it on the past 2 maxi. I don't notice any gain, I like the fact that I don't have to replace the filter, just clean it. If you want a power bump, you need an intake. Chris

I put a Microgard filter and though i didn't notice any actual HP gains, the car would rev much freely compared to the OEM Nissan (oiled) filter.

When i went in for my 30k service, they replaced my Microgard again with an OEM and do notice the Max being a bit sluggish again.

No drop in filter will give you any noticeable gains. I would either stick with the stock filter or go with the Amsoil filter. The Amsoil filter lets air flow freely like the K&N, but offers considerably better dirt stopping ability. K&N's are pretty bad at stopping dirt until they have alot of miles on them.

I had the K&N for almost 2 yrs on my 2k2 and didn't notice a difference UNTIL I had to take it out (blown MAF). I noticed a difference right away. Obviously, no hp difference, but throttle response is just not as quick. It's hard to believe, but true.

Does the Amsoil filter cause MAF prob's? What about Microguard?

I like the Injen cold air intake but filter sucks. It is so small. I changed it to APEXI filter with the inake and it's great.

Microgard shouldn't cause any issues as it's a dry element filter unlike the OEM and K&N. I had it for well over 15k miles and didn't have issues with it.

There is a noticeable difference with the K&N, I've felt it on numerous occasions (popping a fresh stock filter back in, popping the K&N back in, etc.).
The biggest difference I've seen, however, was removing the stock resonator (ramscoop-lookalike). When you do this, you have to find a suitable location for the Intake Air Temperature and MAP sensors (labeled "BOOST SENSOR" on mine). I mounted them by letting them hang by their wiring harnesses
Removed resonator + K&N drop-in == noticeable difference. Put the ramscoop resonator back on, car drives like it has a tourniquet around its neck.
