Sumitomo Brake Pads - Pefect Fit
My original OEM front pads have lasted me 75K miles already with another 5K to go, according to my mechanic, but I thought it was time to change them. (So if you're not one who does hard braking all the time, the OEM front pads actually last pretty long.) I bought a front set of Bendix Import Quiet brake pads, and it turns out that only two of the four pads have pad wear sensors whereas the stock OEM ones have sensors on all four pads. A few of you mentioned that the aftermarket pads that you've purchased (Porterfield R4S, Hawk HPS, Axxis Metal Masters) are like the Bendix that I got.
My mechanic buddy doesn't like to use things that seem out of spec. He didn't like leaving some pad return levers loose, so this morning, he found a set of Sumitomo (part of Sumitomo Electric Industries) SN592P brake pads for $44 from his distributor, and these are a perfect fit. All four pads have the wear sensors on them, so he put everything on with no problems. The pads are nice and quiet too.
So if you don't want to pay the $50+ for Nissan OEM pads, and you want pads that are designed per spec of the OEM pads, but going for a bit of a lower price, you might want to consider the Sumitomos...if you can find them.
If you can read Japanese, their website is www.sei-brake.co.jp
Peace.
