thx for your help.

from z32.org
"The fuel damper reduces fuel pressure pulsation between the fuel injectors and fuel filter. "

so...what if I take it off and replace it with a straight thru adapter?

4th gens. don't have one, so you should be fine without it.

Is it really necessary to remove it though?

4th gen does not have one, but their fuel filter is inline... We don't have an inline fuel filter, rather a screen type filter that sits in the tank. That's maybe why they put the damper there...

Very very good point.

I wonder....especially with a FMU ramping up fuel pressure.

How abruptly does the FMU adjust to boost?

Don't know really, but I'd expect pretty fast to keep up with a turbo spooling. A SC would be pretty linear.

Actually, now that I think about it, it's proportional to boost.

So, the FMU disc ratio, ie 8:1, 10:1, 12:1, etc, and type of boost, ie exponential or linear, would determine it. However, if the stock system only ramps from 34psi to 43psi at WOT and it requires a fuel-dampener?

Boost is going from 43psi to 80psi, even 100+psi in maxi-overdose's case.

Its proportional to boost... but the transient is more the issue... ramping fuel pressure all the way from base to above 100 psi could cause some bad stuff to happen for that instant...

thx guys for the reply

ice:
just undergoing some process of elimination of the possible causes of my lean problem. if I can get a high pressure but still running lean....something must be wrong inside the fuel rail.

btw, someone's selling 2k1 injectors for 70 bucks apiece...what do you think?

UMD - my car's running leaner than usual from mid range rpm and the fuel pressure was low at that point...and without losing too much power btw. seems like it doesnt receive enough fuel from midrange rpm when boost just kicks-in.

just FYI

IC...good plan!

Sounds like the same price as BRAND NEW RC Engineering 370cc-440cc injectors! He told me $600 shipped for the injectors/rail/FPR/damper, so he's probably trying a bid war.

I only wanted one though.
