2K2+ Maxima Newbies...Step Inside...PLEASE

If you have say <1000 posts or around....please list what car you traded/gave up for the Max, ie Honda, Acura, Toyota, GM, Ford, etc., even Nissan and what year/model.

I'm curious to know how many of you converted based on the "255hp Nissan marketing". Just a hunch.

Back in the day (year and a half ago) I was very interested in the TL-S cause of the hp and the options. A Maxima with 255 was pretty close to the power, and a lower price. Was dissapointed when i found out it didnt really have 255, but it still moved like a bat out of hell, and it saved me 6 gs over the acura, so I wasnt too upset. Now I love the torque, so the hp i can deal without... the bad advertsiing upsets me more

Traded in my 1998 Toyota Camry LE 4cyl

A coworker bought an 02 SE, and I was so impressed by the car and its performance, I went out and bought one two weeks later.

Been happy as a clam ever since.

Well lets see. I went from an 85 Honda Accord (85 horsepower OH YEAH) to my 2000 max, and from there I also have a 2002 max 6-speed.

Traded cause:

... good looks, good HP and torque

I was in the process of getting a 2001 Maxima SE but was held off for a while then the 2k2 model came out with 255 which was a PLUS! and got that later on.

EXACT same car I traded from. There are SEVERAL '93-'96('97?) GT owners that drive Max's.

95 dodge intrepid P.O.S.
it got totaled in an accident - i wasnt at fault
I had been looking for a used TL type - s or Maxima; I ended up with the maxima since it was cheaper and there are no local Acura dealers.

2001 Honda Accord Coupe EX-V6. Never had a problem with the car.

Only thing I regretted about purchasing the honda was no manual transmission, which of course they did not offer then.

I looked at Acura TL, VW Passat, Audi A4, used A6, Altima...But I was sold on Maxima due to the HP/Tq numbers, the 6spd and price, since the '04 were out.

I definately wish the Max handled as well as the Probe. I found it nice to be able to drop the clutch from a stop and not even have to touch the steering wheel (no torque steer). It was a hot car in '93, but slow by todays standards....

I traded in my '95 maxima SE for a 2k2 because the old max was on its last leg, the damn tranny kept screwing up. I stayed with Nissan because I like it. I never even test drove the new max before I bought it.

Plenty quick enough for a 17yr. old(at the time). Handling was awesome and stoping distance was SICK for those days(60-0 in 117ft IIRC?). That with ABS saved my azz a few times being stupid.

Me either before I bought my 2001.

Drove LOTS of 5spd 4th gens. as a valet and loved them.

Figured 5th gen. would be just as good, if not better. Now I know, it's some of both.

I jumped from 1991 Infiniti G20 to 2003 Maxima. I still have the G20 sitting on my driveway waiting for it to be sold. Handling on that car was amazing for a 1991 car, I really beat the $hit outta that car... but its still running fine today! It got me through college, that's all I care.

Max 03 is my graduation gift from myself

Auto or 5spd?

Autos were such dogs! You've got to be loving the VQ.

The lease was almost up on my 2001 Grand Am GT (6 cylinder auto). 2 of my friends drive Maximas (1999 and 2000) so I knew that was what I wanted, it was just a matter of picking out the year and color.

I had a 89 Mazda 626 LX.
I was looking at WRX, Solara, and the Max of course. I wasn't sure what I was looking for in a car as long as it was pimp. I initially decided on a Solara because of the price but (luckily) I re-evaluated my decision and went with the Max.
WRX - > Too small
Solara - > kinda ghey
Max - > Just right
