Frankencar, Apex'i, and MAF

Heard alot here about blown MAF's, but notice that it usually has to do with K&N filters (which are oiled). I just put on the Frankencar with an Apex'i filter...has there been any prblems with MAF's blowing with the setup I have?[IMG]http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/442000-442999/442543_6.jpg

If you ask me the "oil" issue is overexagerrated. Nissan's own OEM filter is oiled. If anything it's the MAF that's been the culprit.

Then again some of the K&N's did come over-oiled.

as many posts as there are about it on here, you'd think that every Max owner had blown their MAF 2 or 3 times!!!!

Actually, there are several people here that had that happen to them.

In any case, you have to consider that the people who do complain of issues here on the .Org is probably not even a good solid 1% of the entire Maxima owner population.

Granted that...obviously no one is going to ***** about it if their MAF DOESN'T blow....just wondering if there was a higher liklihood of it happening with different intakes and filters or if it's just a matter of bad luck/good luck....

Like i said earlier, it's not so much as the filter as it is the actual MAF itself that's the culprit.

I have a question. So if you have the K&N or apexi filters you have to change them when theyre dirty or are they reusable? How much do they cost?

K&N is washable, the Apexi you have to replace.

I'm not sure which one flows better but a lot of people swear by the Apexi, it's pretty price at about $50 a pop though.

Got the Apexi joint deal with my frankencar...they offer the intake with either a KN or Apexi...the Apexi is a few bucks more I think but not that bad....

76,000 miles plus on my ride. Started out with KN drop in 20,000 miles then went to Stillen intake at about 30,000. I still Have the Stillen/Frankencar combo intake and it has been cleand twice. And have had not one serious problem yet. im feeling hesitation at about 4k rpms but not sure why that is.
