definitely a bad maf. no question about that.
2 choices.....setup stock intake and go in, play dumb, and get the maf replaced under warranty.
if you're not under warranty
call Dave Burnette (you can't say DaveB anymore because there's another DaveB in parts department) at south shore nissan (888-254-6060) and tell him you got a messed up maf *SENSOR* from your intake. he'll know exactly what you need. cost is $75+shipping. if you go to your dealer, they'll say you need the whole maf piece which is $480. we've already pinpointed it to the sensor only.
good luck...and good idea on disconnecting maf...that's exactly what you should have done. it keeps the car at least running instead of shutting off.
*tip*- another way to prove if you're maf has gone bad is to turn on the car, and blow into the maf (obviously you remove the intake) this fluxuation of air will cause the car to dip in rpm's, if done hard enough it will shut off. here's the trick. if that DOES happen, then your maf is fine. it's supposed to work like that...think about it. a lot of air at idle will miscalculate the air/fuel mixture and cause it to dip in rpm's. now, if you blow into the maf and nothing happens, that's just another way of proving you have a messed up maf.
edit- tip given to me by my friend, master tech and koeppel nissan in queens, NY. it's how they frequently test for maf's, because you blowing into the maf are acting like an intake yourself, and simply proving whether the maf is reading the air intake values correctly.

i guess if you played dumb, they may pull the "past 36k so your **** outta luck"
but then again, if you play the smart one, tell them you tested it and it seems the maf is bad. explain the symptoms, etc.... and then they should continue from there and then do the warranty replacement. have the paper that says the maf is a 80k warranty piece, incase they try to pull something on you, forcing you to pay...if worse comes to worse, know that you can always do it yourself, so no matter what, do not let them fix it if it's not covered under warranty. they'll charge you up the a$$.
hope this helps.
