what to do about SES light

my ses light went on over the weekend. brought it into autozone to have the code read. they said it kicked out the most common code, and that it is often caused by a bad tank of case or a "hard start" in the cold weather. the guy turned the light off and said if it comes back on to head back and they'll see if they get a more specific error. well the light came back on today. so here's my question.. i am going in for 45k service at nissan tomorrow. do i let them and there costly techs check it out? or do i stick with the free autozone until i absolutely need additional help? i don't notice any lack in performance. greatly appreciate any tips, thx!

well supposedly it shouldn't cost you anything just to have the techs check out the light when you go in for service, so you might as well have them do it while your there.

if they want to charge you a extra $80 diagnostic fee, then go back to Autozone.

the dealer wont charge you to check the codes IF you have the repair done there. if they pull the code and you decide you dont want them to fix it or you dont want to repair then be prepared for a nice diagnostic fee. i would try going back to autozone and having the code pulled again. write down the code it pulls and post it.

thx for the help guys. just got back from nissan. i asked them not to do anything about the light, but the techs checked it anyways. i was told that it was triggered because i have a california emissions car (or something like that) and that there's something in the gas out here that can set it off. they reset the ecu free of charge because it's covered under extended warranty. thx again.
