CAI install problem - stupid sensor!

I love my 2003 SE, but I am a novice to "upgrading". I can get the CAI installed just fine, but I have no idea what to do about the now no-longer-attached sensor which attached to the air box. The call will no longer idle correctly and seems to be have emmissions trouble. The real issue is that the computer will no let the car rev past 2400 rpms when the sensor is uninstalled. Does anyone know what I should do?

what sensor are you talking about? is it the MAF sensor? and also what kind of CAI do u have? you need to have that sensor connected on your CAI, if it's not connected or if you have a bad one that's what's going to happen.

if your talking about the MAF sensor, then you installed the thing wrong buddy

You see the black thing between the two shiny pieces of piping underneath the red hose? It goes sideways so that you can plug your MAF sensor in from the driver side strut area

you might also want to check if you get the same effect if you unplug the connector to the sensor. first make sure that the mouth on the sensor itself is going away from the throttle body (or where it will receive airflow). if this yields the same results then you might need a new sensor. dont freak out and call your local service/parts rep at nissan. they will charg you an incredible amount call Daveb from southwestpoint nissan in austin.(i think it is called that). his number is 888-254-6060. tell him that you are a member of the org. He knows me because i just bought brake pads from him and i bought my MAF sensor from him not to long ago.
