Nissan Tech Stunned This morning!!!1!
About a month ago, i took my 2000 auto se into the nissan dealership for slipping transmission tsb. They test drove it and said that it shifted perfectly. Well, it has gotten worse so this morning i took it in because i've got 58,000 miles on it and i want to get it done before the powertrain warranty is up. This time, i drove it with the tech, found a nice hill and did some random half throttle accelarations. It was funny, watching his face and seeing his neck jerk when my car slammed into gears and slip like crazy!! I asked him "Have you guys had any other 2000 maxima's with slipping transmission?" but he said "No, this is our first case that we have heard" I don't know if he was lying or not but he also said that he didnt know about the tsb. He said that if the part on the transmission was too bad then nissan will just replace the whole unit, then he said that he'll look up the tsb later. He probably was not going to look it up so, me being in college and all, i had my laptop with me. I asked if they had wireless connection to the internet and he said yes so we went inside and i pulled up the tsb info off of maxima.org(gotta give you guys props) under Technical Service Bulletins. He didn't think that i would be this well prepared, so he was scanning and reading the tsb. Then he got out a piece of paper and wrote down the part numbers from the tsb and he said that he'll order them and they should arrive in about 3 day's. They'll call me to bring the car in when the parts arrive. I'm only 18 and i have learned a valuable lesson, when you go to the dealer be persistent because they will just try to push you away(hey, they're gonna get a paycheck regardless) I was late to school today a little bit but i feel that i would not want to sped 2,000 dollars for a new tranny. How much of the transmission does the tsb replace and is there anything else i can get done before my powertrain warranty runs out??

good job. they tried to **** me around and i told them that my tansmittion was jacked b/c of nissan crap parts. they replaced everything and all i had to do was to pay for a new fricion plate...$90. no labor charge no nothing. it was great but only becaused i bitcched and mouned
Confused/Pi$$ed
I'm getting really annoyed with Nissan. I've gone to TWO dealers near me now and both have stated that my 2k Max does NOT have a 60kmile powertrain warranty. I called Nissan Corp and they said the same thing? Is the powertrain warranty only for the orginal owner (I bought it used in 2001 w/ about 41k miles, i'm up to 53k now)?
Even better, does anyone know of a decent dealer in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area??
Thanks!!!

I do believe that warranties are voided for fleet cars like taxi, rental, so was your car one of them?
good job! i had a similar experence with my 2k last month. they didn't want to do the TSB at all...had to throw a fit (threaten to call Nissan corp.) to get them to do it.
all the TSB replaces is a seleniod (not sure if that is spelled right or not). it is NOT like a gear or anything..just tells the tranny when to shift - as i understand it.
just make sure that really fixes it before your warranty runs out and you should be fine.
mine is 100% better after having the TSB done! although i still catch myself bracing my neck for that head jerk as i'm going into second! it has taken me a while to realize it is REALLY fixed after a year of getting my neck jerked!!
