Cool. I'm seriously pondering whether I should change my fuel filter before doing this... the theory that BG44K can dissolve fuel filter deposits somewhat scares me. I have 44K on my 2K SE and I wouldn't be surprised if it was dirty... it is 3 years old after all.
I don't think the long commute I have would be an issue... or at the very least, I'll be driving slower/less aggressively to keep the engine running a little cooler...

Can't hurt to do so, i didn't have to worry much about it since i just had my fuel filter replaced during my 30k (did it at 33k) mile service.

soundmike, did you have your fuel filter replaced at the dealer? if so, did you have to ask for it separately? i was told that the fuel filter in our cars were made not be to replaced regularly. a local quick lube place once asked me if i wanted it done. i said sure if you can... they found out they couldn't.

It's certainly possible to do (requires removing the fuel pump), I wouldn't want a quick lube place doing it anyway though...

Yep, the dealership did it. I always go to my service dept. for anything that needs to be done for my Max. It's a bit costly compared to places like Jiffylube - but these guys really know their stuff, plus i always get Excellent service from them.

Any chem geeks?

Here's the ingredients in the bottle of BG44K Advanced Formula I received in the mail today-
CONTAINS: Polyetheramine (CAS N/A), Heavy Aromatic Petroleum Distillates (CAS 64742-94-5), Hydrotreated Heavy Petroleum Distillates (CAS 64742-48-9), Naphthalene (CAS 91-20-3), 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene (CAS 95-63-6)

I figure "Heavy ... Petroleum Distillates" doesn't tell us much, so that's their "secret formula"

Its funny that I just saw an ad for GB 44K for the first time on TV today... they must have realized that they got a killer product and needs more marketing.

Probabl a good idea to do the fuel filter. I didn't because it's not a maintenance item specifically and it's impossible for me to do (I am not gonna play around with all that gas and crap ), so I didn't bother but it probably is a good idea.

I must say damn!!! this stuff made a convert out of me.

After adding a can of of BG44K and letting it sit in the tank for about two weeks (did only short trips and then went out of town) until the next fillup, my car is as smooth as a baby's bottom. At first I thought it was from having driven a piece of **** impala rental, but it's the BG44K that did the trick. the VQ just purs.

Poured it on an empty tank (you'll need a funnel) at the gas station just before I filled it up. IIRC, the 11 oz. can said it treats up to 20 gal, but don't quote me on that.

my experience with this stuff is this:

The first two tanks after using it, the car ran like new again, the car ran really smooth, and gas mileage went up sllightly. However, since then, the car has changed back to the way it was before putting in the stuff.

Plus, a co-worker tried it, and had the same exact results as I did. So, I don't know about this stuff. Just my experience.

Can you buy this stuff anywhere else, like Pep Boys or auto zone?

I would assume the "back to normal" is just the ECU adjusting out any extra fuel efficiency you may have gained.
The point being, this stuff likely DID make a difference, and did improve your fuel system's efficiency, but your ECU has finally masked it out so you don't notice it anymore. It will give your car better long-term driveability, as you hopefully won't experience major fuel system problems due to clogged/dirty injectors/fuel lines.

I bought mine at NAPA. It comes in the long-neck bottle so no funnel is needed.

I bought mine online. It came in a can. I called NAPA beforehand and the guy said he had never heard of the stuff before.

I went online to the website www.bgprod.com.

I searched for a dealer in my area. It was a kia/ hyndai dealership parts department, so I called them. He said his BG rep was scheduled to come by in a few days. I asked him to pick up 3 bottles for me. He only charged me $10 each and he gave me a free sample of the BG brake quiet treatment for brake pads.

Call a local distributor and get him set you back a can or two.

Want to know why this and Seafoam makes the car run nicer?
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....53#post3007653
I think both of these products slightly up the octane levels so for that tank the car runs great. Still good products IMHO.
