Power loss?

01' SE. Drastic power loss. It just got cooler here in Tampa too. I am going to take it in when I get back from VAC Dec 1st. What should I suggest to the service rep? TSB's? I found an acceptable service guy here in town. Thank you, Chris

Auto. The loss is even throughout the powerband. Only mod is a drop in K&N. 49,000 miles. Oil, Mobil1 fully sinthetic, every 4-5,000 miles. One bad MAF last year after PR CAI was installed. I took it off and had the MAF replaced and never put it back in. Never had an SES other than that one. This will be my 10th visit in 2 yrs for various other mechanical failures, wheel barring, rotors....etc Thanks, sorry it took so long to reply. My wife and I have been in the woods. We are coming out for the Gator game vs FSU. I will have access to a comp some time SUN. Happy Turkey Day

i would pull the plugs and check the condition of all of them. also basic things such as a clogged/dirty air filter can hold back some power since its struggling to breath. nissan will tell the plugs are good for 100k which they may be but its going to loss alot of spark on the way. maybe run a bottle of chevron techron through the tank and see if that helps any.

I will check the plugs. Any reccomendation on replacements if I need them. The air filter looks great. It was put in about 1,000 miles ago. I have used that 104octane booster at my last oil change per a friends suggestion. Is the Techron a similar additive? Do you think it could be a bad coil? Sorry for all of the ?'s. Thank you! Chris

i would recommend NGK coppers because they are a better conducter than platnium and are much cheaper. the downside is they need to be replaced more often along the lines of 20-25k. i run coppers and plan to change them once a year. i doubt its a coil because that would cause a misfire and should light the ses light. if you pick up a haynes manual, it outlines how to test the coils and is a great resource for other diy repairs.

I just fixed my general loss of power problem with an $90 MAF. DRASTIC IMPROVEMENT! She wasn't throwing any definitive codes to point out the MAF I just talked to a few people including DaveB and decided to take a $90 chance on the MAF, she's a rocket again!

$90. Holy crap! That is for just the sensor portion correct. That is the cheapest I have heard of yet. I will try the plugs this afternoon after work. I still need an extension for the wratchet. If all is well there, I will try the MAF. How do I find Dave B? Thank you.

888-254-6060 And ask for Dave Burnette

Just under $90 shipped to me, comes with the housing that goes in between the filter housing and throttle body tube. Took me a half hour to install, easiest way is to pull the entire filter box out so you can get to all four bolts on the MAF housing. Of course make sure you don't pull any vac lines or wires loose in the process. It's also recommended on here to reset your ECU after a new part such as this is installed.
