Civic Ex That fast?????

Hey wassup i have a 4th gen max. but my best friend has a 5th gen(2001) auto. Well we was in his car on the highway at about 60MPH just chillin. on one of the exits a 2001 civic ex coupe with body kit slammed exhaust & intake. At least that what i could've hear. im not sure about headers and all that but anyways. we past the exit and this car just pulls out the off ramp and all of a sudden he is on our *** i was like WTF. then my boy moved over and let him past then he started giving us his hazards so my boy went after him. the highway was empty so we went for it and this lil car was just all in front and we couldnt pass him even though we was on his *** untill we hit a curve and he slowed down and we passed him and stopped next to him and the guy smiled and dropped gears and just took off at that point my boy gunned it also so we got in front but we went up to 125 and the car was on our *** like a car back i was so surprised that this car kept up with a 5th gen i imagine if it was my 4th he wouldve passed me.

please, civic can only be quick but not fast. plus he probably had a buch of mods. i don't see a point of that especially to a civic

My buddy has a 2001 EX (intake, exaust, headers, pulley, 5spd) and that car is pretty fast off the line. He raced my other friend's IS300 and only lost by a car. He tried my in my 2k2 and that was a different story. I left him behind like 5 cars. I cant believe that he actually kept up with you guys on the high way. that car has no top end power, it is really sluggish.

its a civic. what do you expect from a mass produced car. plus you have to spend a lot of money to try to make it fast and then get smoked by a max. i see no point in that.

thats what i though too i wouldnt think its that fast but he was only 2 cars back but he was pulling just like us. when we was next to him we gunned it and he gunned it and we took 2 cars right there but he was just pulling. i was so surprised he could keep up with 222HP. i hate civics also but that one was pretty quick.

probably had forced induction.

EX's can be fitted with a turbo and easily put 220hp at the wheels.

i think that is a waste of money becuase civic are a everyday car. big deal that it has a turbo. you see a civic everyday. so in conclusion a civic is a 4 banger/gas saving/ricer modefied/ nothing special/car.

People with big V8's and 10's (or in the case of MB and BMW - 12's) could pretty much say the same thing about our "puny" V6's

yeah, they could say that but those people don't see a completly riced out max everyday, but i betcha they see a civic though. plus they use those cars as luxury sedans, not as performance sedans like us.

No top end power? It's a civic, all it has is high rpm range power due to VTEC. Its in the low end those things struggle, no torque.

Keep in mind that if he was heavily modified it still probably doesn't add weight a car that is at least 400-500 lbs lighter than your max.

Dude, 95% of the people who drive Maxima's are old ladies, and thats only a slight exaggeration. The Maxima is a grocery getter with a sweet engine. Enthusiasts like us make it into something else.

You and your boy were in your best friend's 5th gen (2001)? How old is your boy? Do you encourge him to race ricers? You should be setting a better example as his father. And does your best friend know you and your son were out racing in his Max?

there are about a half dozen (min) different turbo kits avail for the 92-00 Civic EX but I'm not certain what's out there for the 01+ EX.

I've driven an 01 EX with intake before and can tell you that that thing definitely needs FI to run with my 02 Max. I've driven my friend's 95 EX w/ I/H/E and it seems to be quicker than the 01 EX I drove (ref. butt dyno); but, I dont think its quicker than any VQ30DE Maxima.

Peace
