I finally picked up the new FOB from the dealer and tried to program it according to the standard instructions for a 2K Max.

The car did acknowledge the new FOB after inserting and removing the key six times from the ignition after pressing "lock" when the ignition was set to "ACC".

SURPRISE! The replacement FOB did not work.

I read that if more than 4 key code have been entered, it will not accept any more. The Mgr. did try with other keys before we tried this one. Maybe they all did program OK and he did not know it.

The real question is:

Does anyone know of a way to reset the memory in the car so that I can start over from scratch with the key codes? So I can eliminate what it interprets as the existing 4 key codes.

Maybe only the dealer can do this?

I did think of pulling the negative battery terminal and seeing if that can do it; among other things such a maybe resetting the ECU? Have not done this yet, though.
