2k2 With Rust Spot?

I have a 2k2 SE and noticed that I have a rust spot on the right fender where paint was apparently chipped away. I've only had my Max since July 2002 and thought it had a 5/60 rust warranty. How should I take care of this? Rubbing compound and touch-up paint or through the dealership?

I would take it to the dealership...that should be covered under warranty !!

Its a Rust Through warranty. There has to be a rusted hole...not just surface rust to claim warranty.

Any paint shop will tell you, depending on the severity, it is very hard to get rid of rust. My father-in-law used to cut the rust off of his Taurus every winter and bondo the area. You may be able to sand the rust (if it is surface rust), prime and repaint...but probably best left to a professional. My father-in-law's work would scare you.
