well, supposely 2k1 MAF was suppose to be the strongest.
and supposely no one with 2k2-2k3 has destroyed a 2k1 MAF

About 8 days ago, I blew a 2k1 MAF, so I don't think there is a stronger MAF

What is this mythical creature you speak of? Strong&MAF should never be used in the same sentence. Except when saying, There is a strong liklyhood you will blow a MAF. Just kidding. I agree. I know people with all years and all # MAF's. All blown at some point. I was thinking of a custom plate,"NEED MAF". I kinda relate to it. Shoot a PM to studman. He is on his fourth, should be an expert by now.

I was WOT when I blew mine. I put the stock box back on and took it in. I'm well past warranty, but there is a TSB for a 2000 cali spec MAF, so they replaced it for free. Made me happy.

I believe the 'strongest' MAF for the 2K2-2K3 is part #22680-AM600. This came on the 2K3's and some late build 2K2's (like mine) I've had an Injen on for 4500 miles and no problems yet...........

What is the failure mode for a blown maf? Does the hot wire filament burn out?

I have a 2k2 max and my MAF blow this weekend at WOT. I replaced it with a 2k1 because it was cheaper. I live in Houston Texas and called every Nissan dealer in this area, wanted to sale me a 2k3 for 500 bucks.

Sounds like the best MAF is the spare one you carry with you at all times!

you do know that it's not the MAF that blows, but the MAF sensor, right?
replacing the MAF does cost in the 300-500 range, but the MAF sensor alone is like $80. saves you quite a penny.
you may know this already, but when you said 500, i assumed you did not. best way to save money is to buy the maf SENSOR only.

yes, i know. They would not sale me just the sensor only of a 2k3. But the would for a 2k1. Don't know why. He told me he has to go by the part # in the computer.

I forgot what happened when the 1st MAF went out
but the 2nd and 3rd one went out during WOT

i know u guys already had experience with this, but when that thing blows under warranty can you request that they replace the MAF sensor with a diff part number, i mean other then what i have in right now, like a 2k3 sensor?

What? Does this apply to all 2ks. So if my maf dies, i should get it replaced for free with this tsb?
