I spoke with Rob Payne from Nissan N.A about the problem with my Maxima 2k about the warped rotors. He informed me that their is a TSB for that problem. TSB # IS NTB00-088.
Hope this helps.

Can you scan or summarize?

Does it include replacement or regrinding the rotor? My dealer replaced my front rotors. From what I hear, it's likely to reoccur.

Paul2kgxe...

I should know more when I bring the car in on Wed 02.28.01 for the rotor replacement. Something else I forgot to say, the guy at Nissan N.A said its not a warped rotor, But a Brake Judder?

I've never heard of a brake "judder" but I know what warped rotors feel like and that's what my Max had. This was confirmed by the dealer when they stated they were out of spec and rather than resurface we went ahead and replaced them along with the pads.

How may miles before the rotors warped, and how did you know there was a problem? Also, what did the dealer charge you for replacing them? Thanks.

12,000 miles. When I braked under higher speeds, the steering wheel would shake. The dealer replaced them under warranty.

Sorry DMAX..

I don't have a copy, I called Nissan N.A about a bulletin, Rob Payne called me back this morning about a TSB for warped rotors. If you bring the TSB # NTB00-088 with you to the dealer. you should'nt have a problem. Hope this helps

My 2001 Max has begun to make a strange groaning noise when I first take off in the morning. It goes away after a few minutes of driving. It sounds like the car is really straining even though I am usually just pulling out of the driveway and going slow on the local road.
Is this due to warped rotors?
Thanks--Gregg

You might want to email DaveB and see if he can hook you up. He faxed the cold Idle drop TSB to me.
