Optima Red Top Fitting issues

Hey

i just got rid of my 97 max and got a 00 but im having a problem with something when trying to install my red top optima the postive battery cable does not want to go on the post its almost like something is in the way ( i think its the ALT fuse)

any help would be appricated

I had the same problem with mine. Its a close fit but I was able to squeeze it in.

I put a red top in mine, you have to put something underneath it for it to fit right. Anything about 2 inches tall/thick will work.

I assume you're talking about the "L" shape of the positive connector/wire?

The "L" shape of the connection prevented the cable's terminal "hole" from reaching in far enough on the battery top to set down on the post.

Sooo, i took the connector apart and flattened out the "L" piece of the metal with two pairs of pliers until it would reach far enough in to slide down onto the terminal post. Note that I only bent it far enough to make it reach. I didn't completely flatten it.

Put the pieces back together, put it on the post and tightened it down. The red plastic cap still covers the connector, although it's not factory fit of course, but it works. Better than using stock wet cell battery
