have any ideas what this is

This only happens when i first start my car up on a cold morning. I have an 03 6sp and it also happened with my 00 5sp. When i start my car up on a cold morning and the rpms go up,it makes a wierd sort of grinding/ticking noise. Its only for about a second while the rpms reach its peak during the start. I have no idea what it could be. Its not wicked loud, its just loud enough so I can notice it. Like i said it only occurs when its cold and the car has been sittin there, its during the initial start of the car when the rmps go up for a split second

I believe it was the VTC sprockets. VTC = valve timing control.
