You guys were right......

......about the Sentra SE-R spec V's , there pretty quick. This guy chased me down to run against my Maxima ,pulled into the local super walmart , he said he seen me around and wanted to try his car against mine . Long story short after introducing himself , and getting to know him , he knew of a back road to run on , it was back road behind the super walmart we were at and other industrial buildings. So no traffic to worry about , i told him how the fam at Maxima.org try to discourage street racing , and he agreed too. He had a I/E/H , me i am stock, So we did the on three horn tap , to go. From the start i had alot wheel spin and he launched out the hole like a rocket, he had a 2 car lead on me up to 55 mph then when my Max hit 3rd i was gaining on him , by 70 he was seeing taillights and at a 100 he was about 2-3 cars behind with no intention of catching up. I shut it down because of lack of road that was coming up.We ran a second time , better launch for me and he still kept a a car length ahead of me up to 55 mph, and the same thing happend like the first race. We were both amazed how his car was super strong at low end but weak on mid-to high. And how my Max was weak on the low end and good from the mid to high end.

My car is a auto,so i was really amazed how my car faired. What is the best way to launch an auto, its my first and never really raced one like a manual. I seem to suck at it, and i am sure there is a better way to launch an auto then just mashing the gas to the floor....

i am assuming you're a 2k2+. if you beat a car by 2-3 car lengths by 100 after you were 2 behind at 55, basically putting 4-5 car lengths from 55-100, that isn't really a close race...a Spec V with those mods, i would have guessed it would have been closer. also, our 3.5s are pretty damn strong down low...if you can manage to get traction on our crap tires, you can really use the low end torque to your advantage. brake torque to about 1700, ease on the gas as you release the brake pedal and then hammer it when you hook up.

A specV modded (I/E/H/UDP) manual couldn't muster lower than 14.6's @ E-town back in Sept.
That was after a few 14.9's/ 15.1's
his traps were much lower than mine to my 14.6 's on my stock max

the 3.5s have a lot of low end power.... too much torque with tires that can't handle it... that's probably why u couldn't launch too well..

Yeah i am 2k2 auto SE. Maybe if i bump in to him again i'll run him agin by using your method of torque braking. I am so use to manuals , taching it out about 3,500 and letting it rip when i had TTZ. Anymore than 3500rpm , would be a waste, you would literally just stay there and smoke the tires.

same for the 3.5 autos... i can't brake torque to more than 1500 or my traction will just break loose.

put toyo proxes tpt tires on there and ease on to the gas instead of just mashing it. you can feel when you are about to break taction, so dont push it that hard. i have taken camero rs's, mustang 5.0's, and mustang gt's(4.6L) just because they spin out and i go. it is easy after you get used to it. you will kknow just how hard you can push it before taction breaks, and just keep it under.

Spec-V's are pretty quick...

Street racing is dangerous, but... brake torque slightly and ease into the gas. Manually shift! go to about 6.2 or 6.5K RPM then shift up. I pulled a 14.6 using this method w/only intake and springs.

They are quick I've been thinking about one to replace our 93 sentra, although come the end of december the great prices at nissan will go. I have been quoted for an 04 new one with a sunroof for $14,500, or $16,500 with their .9%/60 months, and that was even before really trying to lower the price with the dealer.
