Alarm to prevent HID theft

I am feel hopeless at this point. But I was thinking about getting an alarm, with very sensitive sensors. So that when the headlights are practically touched it would set off the aftermarket alarm. I know they sometimes set off and are very annoying but I dont care anymore. Does anybody have this kind of alarm, details would be appreciated.
Thanks

I arranged to get a Responder Viper Alarm installed by Don (check GD forum) w/ sensors on he headlights - He's in Edison
I very much rather be annoyed than have them stolen- At least the Viper will notify you instantly when the sensor goes off- besides sensitivity can be adjusted

Check him out- very cool, informative, and professional

Most of these crooks works in team. It probably they them less then 30 sec from popping your hood to disconnecting your battery cables. Thats what happen to my car when I get there. The hook was pop and the positive terminal was disconnected. Ok, the alarm rings, you go down there, its good if they start running if not, what will you do, beat the crap out of them with a BAT?

I hereby volunteer myself for this task!

Anyhow, I priced the Viper Alarm through an installer here in NJ (Kendall Park). Here's an email excerpt from the installer, as to how much it'll cost (long):

The Viper 791xv Alarm and Remote Start is $469.99 Installed. That price is for the base system. Your vehicle will also require a 555u from Directed Electronics. That piece allows the factory transponder system to be bypassed during remote starting so your car will start without the key. This is ONLY active during the remote start sequence and does not affect the factory system when the car is just sitting there, so the car is still unable to start or drive without having the key. The 555u peice is $35 and requires one of your keys to go inside it permanently. If your dealer did not give you all three keys to your vehicle, i reccommend getting a copy made before installation. The 02-03 Maximas also have a more advanced wiring for the door lock system which requires going into the door to enable the keyless entry to work. This process requires an additional hour of labor at $55. As far as the issue with the headlights, I have had several customers that have had that happen in t
he past with Maximas and Acuras. Unfortunately these vehicles are designed in a way that it is a very easy and quick process to pull the headlights out. Anything that you do will only be a deterrent, but NOTHING on the market is guaranteed to PREVENT this. I have a few options we have done in the past that seemed to help. The first option is to place an additional shock sensor in the grille between the headlights. This will make the front of the vehicle very sensitive. That process is around $80 for the shock sensor and labor. Another option on top of that would be to attatch air horns or additional sirens to the system to attract more attention. Another option that we have done is to install LED lights that flash inside the headlight housing when the alarm is armed. The lights are fairly inexpensive at $19.99 for the pair, but due to the complexity of the installation it is usually around $110-$150 for labor. This is to allow thee proper time involved to drill into the head
light housing and then reseal it to ensure that you will never have any moisture inside the headlight. Sales tax would be additional as well. I hope this helped you out a little bit. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to give me a call or stop by the store.
Thank you for your interest in our company.

The 555U is extra and all the others listed is extra, but not close to what A.S.S charges.

Wouldn't the blinking lights in the headlight housing just bring more attention to them.

With sensors these alarms will go off before a crook opens the hood (if thats the case) Now if you park somewhere visible in public a crook wont bother drawing attention to themselves with sirens going off- they rather come across
one w/ factory alarm (plenty of them)

Nothing is to say they wont anyway but its a precaution- but i plan on having
my alarm highly sensitive- i dont give two flying farts if it goes off all the time-
at least I 'll know it works

Do you have the anti-theft kit Nissan put out, I would think that with an alarm on the hood is all it would take.

The kit replaces the bolts in the headlights with rivits. That's what I got.

I just hope I never have to change my HID's!!

which will cause more fender damage- but i'd rather replace a fender for a few hundred than the hid's

Waste of money IMHO....chances are the HL will be gone by the time up get to the car...unless you sleep, eat, bathe and hang out 30 seconds away from your car...

Some folks around here have tried, only to have the lights stolen anyway...

Well while we appreciate your obtimism, statistically speaking thefts from cars with aftermarket alarms a great deal lower than without. Also with all the alarms that Ive done just on 2k2 and 2k3 Maxs (about 60 from here alone) only one had their lights stolen again. This was in Over a 1 year period of time.

I have a back up siren with its own battery hidden somewhere. So even if battery is disconnected, it will go off. I also have a motion sensor inside the cabin, so if someone sticks their hand inside it will go off. I also have a motion sensor in the front of the car, so if you come near the front half of the car, it will give a loud chirpping warning. I also have a sensor that detects when glass is being cut. I think it detects the sound frequency of cutting. So far I have been satisfied with my alarm. The only problem is when it is raining hard or when I park under a tree where leaves are blowing and moving around, it sets off the motion chirping warning. I don't know if this will prevent my HID from getting stolen, but maybe the theives may move to another car. The only downside of the back up siren is if you ever have to disconnect the car battery, you have to get to the hidden siren and switch it off manually with a key, because if there is interupption in the car battery, it will go off.
