0420 is a software issue and your ECU needs to be reflashed with a new program. I just had mine done because my car through the same code. I have over 75,000 miles on my car so I had to pay for the updated software. Only good part of all this was that I got my first gear driveability issue fixed. No more bucking back and forth while in first gear. All '01 manual transmissions had this issue. Good luck.

It cost me $90 for them to tell me it was code 0420 which I told them and the reflash as $30.

As far as the tranny issue/ECU goes. The problem back then was all the comptuers were programmed for automatic transmissions and I just never went and had the TSB done. Done worry about it.

cool thanks

anyone know how to fix the idle contol system? while at idle or neutral, the rpm stays at around 1500 and pulses up and down from 1500 and 1900.

I just bought a 2k max with about 48k on it and the Service Engine Soon signal came on, the thing is that I don't feel a difference in the driving of the vehicle. I've had very bad luck with cars, what should I do?
