He's really glad he doesn't have a 6G too... At least Nissan bought it back, otherwise he'd be a lot more than just a grand in the hole...

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

U know, I'm going to be somewhat heretical here/go out on a limb a wee bit to say that I actually like the Gen6 -there's just no way you're gonna get me into one. Maybe if it were free -I mean, like, if someone would make me an even-steven swap- I would consider it, but at least 28 big ones for it?? No way, Jose.

It think it has way too many of the first year blues. In fact, it prolly has enough blues for two years of shaking down.

I predict that there will be a huge revamping of this car due to all the bad press and publicity of this car. Look for a much better Max within the next year or two.

Galo I think that what you are saying is "sure I would spend a weekend with her, just not home to meet the parents"
I think the French just took an Alti and put way too
much cheap perfume and lipstick on her.
"And she used to be such a nice girl"
Id go G35 or possibly Alti next time, once my 5th gen will
no longer do the "trick"

New design = 1st year problems. Also, American mfg instead of Japanese. I agree with you, Galo, about the design - it has kinda grown on me too (except for the grille) but I'll keep my AE, thank you.

I have a good feeling Nissan goofed on the 6th gen Max.There fun to drive , but there riddled with problems, and the styling is very ho-hum, like the 350Z. It seems everytime Nissan builds the next generation Maxima there getting further and further away from there formula that worked so well 12 years ago. The formula as the "four door sports car". Maximas are no longer Maximas ........

I do see Nissan in the future coming out with an revised Maxima especially now that the new Acura TL raised the bar with styling, performance, and reliabilty, Nissan will pull some last min changes just like they did with 5th gen Max from 2k-2k3 to peak the intrest of the enthusiast fellow.

Look at what they did with the 5th gen,225 -255,hids, 6 speed,Nav, etc. all in the matter of 2 years. You can't tell me they did that because Acura was stealing some of Nissan wind with there TL. And i see the same thing happening again, but this time what will the mighty Max be sporting in the revised version, 280,290, 300HP,19" rims, new aggresive front end, better fit and finish, one sure hope so..........

Right now the Tl is the car for the money....i love my 02'SE, but Acura has a winner on there hands. At the time Nissan had my vote over a 2002 Tl because of what it offered, plus the 2000-2002 TL look so vanilla. So i chose a nissan SE. But that is my opinion.

I can't say that I'm enthralled with the TL, either. I don't like the headlight treatment. Looks like it's squinting and makes the front end look too thick. It just don't look right to me. IMHO. I'll still keep my AE (and it's paid for lol).

I'll have my '02 for at LEAST 4-5 more years, but I'd hold-out for a new TL-S when it became available.

Still want a bimmer though.....the COST - the CO$T!!!!!!!!!

definitely, my friend bought a 2k1 clS brand new and was kicking himself when the 6speed cls came out then again when the new model TL's came out. i told him not to buy a brand new car. he missed the boat twice.

Coincidently, I was talking to a 04 owner yesterday at the grocery store... asking him how he liked his Max. He said he liked it, other than the vibration at hwy speeds. He said the dealer assured him it was the tires, but didn't offer to pay for em'.

Damn, I love my 5th-gen!

Without insulting the 6G guys, that's the exact sentiment I have.

Though I enjoy my 2k2, I still like the 93-94 Max SE (with the 190hp VG30) the most. 4DSC

I kinda feel sorry for the 6th gen owners. Not so much because I think the car is bad, but because of all the bad press. Even if they felt that they made a bad choice, it's too late now. They have to defend their decision to the end. Kinda like the guy who falls in love with the town tramp. I've read some of the posts in the 6th Gen forum and some of the arguments they make for the 6th is laughable. The 6th is not a terrible car, I think some of us just expected better. I'll have to quote Rafe and say, "Maximas are no longer Maximas..."

6th gen more Renault and town tramp.
5th gen still Japanese and last of 4DSC
I think we could be in for a war, HP that is, actually in it.
And our cars fired some of the first salvos since the 60's

I'm violent agreement. When it was time to buy my daughter a car early this summer, I took her to see not one but two 92-94 SEs....I was dying for her to say 'yes' to either of them...she did not.

One more question: how did a bunch of old farts like Mick and I manage to turn this thread into a dissertation on town tramps and other assorted 'PG-rated' innuendos?

Galo,
I cant find my Viagra because I did not take my Ginko Biloba.
My youngest wont be able to drive for 13 & 1/2 years. Ill be trying to find her a 12th gen that is not too clapped out. And by then I will have alzheimers so I'll end up buying her 3 or 4 of em.

AND PLEAAASE
Stop calling the 6th gen a town tramp.
I cant have my sister insulted that way.

I think in six months Nissan going to get shot in the arm for the Maxima. I don't see very many 6th Gen maxima out there. Look what happening to Infiniti Q45. It was a miss, not a hit and I have not seen the Q45 on the road. I read in Motor Trend that Q45 is getting dropped from the line up and the upcoming new M45 going to be the new Infiniti Flagship. So, I'm sure Nissan are already on the drawing board to save the maxima from public suicide.

I drove a 6th Gen SE but like the 5th Gen much more. I like the rear of the 6th, but not the front. It handles a little better but it seems more highway cruiser than 4DSC.

Well if the new Nissan Fuga is any indicator of Nissan's future, we still have hope:

Yeah i love my 93. I think it is the most race inspired maxima. The VE has the great racing sound which makes it a true 4DSC.

Threads like this make me happy because sometimes I wish I waitd for a 6th gen...but I do love the styling of the 6th unlike many.

...the styling is where it stops, the rest is
