my 2k man. tranny died! Redline to blame?

The bearings on my tranny went out. My Maxima only has 59k miles on it. I just bought the car in October and I put Redline MT-90 in it immediately. Luckily, Nissan will replacing it under warranty. The dealer is replacing it no questions asked! They didn't ask anything about the tranny oil and didn't complain about the intake or y-pipe. In the meantime, I have to drive a 04 Camry 4cyl. auto. Suckage!!! I'm going through Maxima withdrawal.

Does anyone think that redline could be to blame here? I used redline for 4 years in my old Altima without problem. The service writer said that this was only the 2nd max that he saw whose tranny died. Anyone else have a tranny go out on a 2k max?

I don't think I will be using redline again. I'm going to have to use amsoil tranny fluid.

Hey,

I've heard alot of people complain about the tranny's in the 00-01 auto's, but I have 64,000 trouble free miles on mine. Plus, I have a few mechanic friends that say there is very few problems with this tranny so my guess is that most .org members are very very hard on their auto tranny's.

You've had the car for what 3-months?!?

It wasn't anything you did...most likely the previous owner was dumping it for a reason.

Never heard of tranny oil doing such damage, and like you said you've been using it for 4 years on ur previous car. Sounds like you bought a lemon, but since its gettin replaced, better die now than a few months after when your warranty jus ran out. You have my condolences.
