US 4th gen maximas do not come with variable intakes. hence, some purchase the Middle East Variable Intake or MEVI. all 5th gens have variable intake but i figured the 6th gen would have some form of it but was unsure.

The 4th gens (95-99) do not come with a Variable intake manifold in the US. The 2000-2001 have essentially the same motor but with a Variable intake Manifold. I am pretty sure the 2k2+ also have a variable intake manifold of some sort also.

Thanks alot,
The Variable Intake Manifold that guys are importing for the 4th Gen is not as good as the one that is on the 2k-2k1. I assume you have the one that comes on the 2k-2k1. EDIT - From the pics on your Cardomain site it looks like you do.

Good english by the way.

Thanks,

Get on Highway and pull the RPM towards Redline and listen for changing of engine "roar" around 4500RPM, if you hear the tone of roar change instantly, then you are Variable intake equipped~

Thanks Anachronism

nismotech,
I did that today, but I guess all the cars start roaring after 4,000 RPM, but I might missed something.

Thanks,

Thanks,

My question is this. Being that your car is only offered with one engine, what would mak eyou think you didn't have it?

Thanks,

lol, well yeah I guess the engine does start to "roar" like any other engines.. I'm saying there will be a INSTANT change in the tone......Its kinda like VTEC in Honda's kicking in, but instead our Variable Intake kick in. Maybe someone else can describe this better than me. lol

Greek to the Max,

I only heard about it here, in the forum.
you know for Toyota and Honda I see their VVTI and VTEC everywhere on their cars exterior, on the engine compartment, the Car ads and brochures, but I don't see the same thing with Middle East Maxima.
So that's why I was thinking it may not has the Variable Intake.

nismotech,

after checking some other cars videos, (accelerating- inside video), I don't see them start to roar as the Maxima do after 4,500 RPM,
Also I can see the RPM start to move faster aftet 4,500

So I guess you are right

Thanks,
