I've noticed a strange sound coming from my 2000 SE at start up. It does not make the sound each time, but enough to make me concerned. It's a buzzing sound just after I turn the key. Does anyone else have this problem?
Any idea where it's coming from? Can you hear it better if you just turn the key to "on" and do not start the car? You could just be hearing the fuel pump pressurizing the lines.

I also have a 2000 SE which started making a "buzzing" sound. I first started noticing it when I turned the car off. It now does it pretty much all the time. I recently posted on the issue; I was informed it was possibly my engine mounts.
Turns out, their is a TSB covering this problem (surprise surprise) and it likely is the "electronic" engine mounts failing. They supposedly cycle between hard and soft in response to your driving. No reason was given why they fail, just to avoid certain production dates (surprise surprise).
I was told by another member, if they actually fail the engine stops running. I have not confirmed this, but it is something to keep in mind.
I love my car...but Nissan has really let me down. What happened to their quality product. I also have a 91 Legend LS...Have had less problems in 5 years (and it has azzload of miles) then I have had on this Max in 1 year.

I noticed yesterday when I turned the key to start the car but did not let the car start, I did hear the buzz. I haven't tryed turning the key to on without attempting the start. I'll try that later today. Thanks.Originally Posted by KCMichaelM
