ok. I want to replace front rotors to either slotted or drilled or both on my 2K max SE.
!) do i need to replace calipers as well?
2) do i need to use special brake pads or dealer pads are good?
3) do slotted/etc rotors get re-surfaced as well???
4) what are the gains of those above?
5) MOST IMP: which brand to go with? PRICES ANYONE???

1- no
2- Its your choice
3- huh ?
4- if you Brembo x drilled and slotted are the best. Check 5th gen for sale forums, Maxedup has Brembos on sale for 2k-1 real cheap !..200 or so shipped for all 4 rotors

why do you want them? Is it for looks or "performance"? If it's looks, have at it. If it's "performance" you need to make sure slotted/x-drilled are actually better (because they are not necessarily better for day-to-day driving).

I just ordered slotted brembo blanks for my 01'. When choosing new rotors, be aware of what they will do. For instance, both slotted and drilled rotors make noise when you are braking. I the noise is undesirable I would suggest getting a standard blank. As far as pads, some high performance pads will not function fully until heated up. For everyday driving, these would not be your best choice. I chose EBC greens for the versatility. 1/2 performance, 1/2 daily driver. Also, I chose slotted and not cross drilled. 1) I don't mind the noise. 2) O have seen many cross drilled rotors crack under heavy loads right where they were drilled. Check out the current GD's. I paid $236 using PayPal for all 4 rotors. This includes slotting and zinc plating. Hope this helps.

Dont get cross drilled unless you want it for looks. X-drilled rotors crack really really quick. My Stillen xdrilled were cracking through the hole after 5000 miles on the street. I would recomend slotted if you dont mind the slight noise.

www.raceconcepts.net has slotted brembo rotors (or done however you want), four for $200 and Axxis Ultimates for $100 all around. You can get blanks for less, and they also sell EBC pads for less. SS lines are 85 as i recall. I buy all my brake stuff from them, because i cant find anything cheaper and they are local. Mention maxima.org if you call and ask for Woody. Does anyone know a place that sells brake components for significantly less?

I have 15000 miles on Stillen rear X drilled , and they are fine. I guess it just depends on your luck sometimes. I have a full set of Brembo blanks that are x drilled and slotted, and I was going to install them. But my dumb **** forgot that they wont bolt up to 300zx calipers...

Ive had X drilled and slotted on my other cars before, and they never cracked . Get what you think works best for you.

I was talking to some brake guy at an import show this past summer and he said that x-drilled rotors can be turned/resurfaced ONE time.
