Just wondering your all's input...

I know that a 235/45/17 is what most people recomend but that'f for 7.5" wheel. These that I have are for a 7" wheel. Don't want to spend 200+ for a tire like OEM. The 255/50/17 (i believe that's the OEM tire size) are a royal pain b/c no one makes them priced reasonably. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

how much are you looking to spend...the stock 225/50R17 tires are crap so i went with 235/45ZR17 bridgestone potenza re730's for $143 per tire...costs a lot, but you will be happy in the long run...it all depends on what you are looking for in a tire...the stock 225/50 17 size is really rare so going with 225/45 17 or 235/45 17 is a much better idea...try http://www.tirerack.com and search by tire size to find some...you are probably looking at around $700-800 including balancing and warranties (assuming you get a road hazard warranty)...it all depends what you are looking for...do you want tires that will last a long time or tires that will perform better in rain/snow or dry etc.

I was looking at the stock 17" rims and measured them. It seems that they are larger than the stated 7" wide. From the inside edge to the outside lip, it is definitely larger than 7". So, how do they measure rims sizes then?

I would like the 235/45's but don't know if they will fit on a 17x7 wheel. I got a real good deal on some Konig monsoons and I want to use those wheels. I know the 225/50 are as rare as a zebratoedelephantgoat, and I don't want to pay $200+ for the tires. I looked on tirerack before posting and found some Kuhmo ecsta 712's that I really like. A few poeple around here have them and really like them, but I'm concerned on the size. I will look around, but I was wanting as close as possible a tire at the same height as not to affect the speedo that much.

And MrBruner, I wish I would have been on this board sooner...I might have been able to see your car. I was out in Scottsdale at the 1st part of Jan. Nice! I think I am gonna take another vacation out there. I didn't get to go to the canyon, but that will be for next time. I might just drive my car out there instead of flying.

Well thanks for the info, and if you can think of anything else, please pass it my way.

Thanks

I read in a previous thread that someone measured their stock 17" rims at 8". He didn't say how he measured it though.

17" Wheels

I have the stock wheels and have had my 235/45/17 Dunlop SP5000s for a couple of months now. They fit well and the improvements over those crappy RE92s is hard to put into words. We get a lot of rain, and with the OEM tires they would spin if started out even slightly aggressively in the rain. Now they don't spin even with WOT. Dry they grip & grip, I think there is now more tire than the car even needs. Good luck!

They will definetely fit, the only thing they will bulge out slightly nothing visible. For an upgrade on tires that is the way to go. But if newwheels are purchased then get the correct width, which is 8"...

Hey 2Kmaxse, you are totally right, the 235/45/17 fits well on the stock rim, they bulges a bit but it kind of protect your magwheel against sidewalk. To mesure correctly you have to take the measure from the inside to the inside ( there might be a better way to explain it ... )

Cheers
