how do you guys claim

[I]
To get 300 + miles to a tank of gas on you 02/03 maximas. I've had my 02 6spd for a year and a half and have never gotten 300 miles to the tank in the city until yesterday. This was after using bg44k about a week ago, and I drove until the fuel light came on. 318 miles of city driving. When I fill up , and I always fill up to the lip (yea-yea I know it's bad) the computer says DTE 309 so I don't understand how some of claim to get these ridiculous numbers from you tank of gas. Are some of you just lieing because you love you max so much? I need some input pls.

I drive a nice mix of City and Hwy, and I can honestly get between 360-425 per tank (Depending on how heavy my foot is . My DTE usually reads 435 on fill up. My MPG is listing 26.9 almost all the time. Mine is an Auto 02. I was using Shell and BP gas (always 93) during the early miles of the car, and did get 300-335 per tank. Then I moved and tried Citgo 93, and the car does not ping anymore and mileage went way up.

I know the onboard MPG is wrong, cause if I took the posted MPG and the amount of fuel used, it would be about 450-480 per tank.

I also use BG44K.

With all city driving, I don't think 300 per tank is that low. City mileage $ucks in the Max.

I do 50/50 and get about 23mpg. Not sure how much that is per tank, cause I don't usually let it get too much below half full, but my trip computer usually says about 390-410 DTE after a fill-up.

I get an actual 20-21 MPG when driving in the city. So yes, I easily break 300 miles in town every tank. Also, when I first got the car, I got an actual 31 MPG over a 1500 mile trip, but since then long distance driving has settled down to 28-29 MPG maximum...

If you get that with the auto then the next place I am going is SHELL and filling it with 94 octane.

Also, my post was saying that Shell and BP were LOWER than Citgo.

It comes down to driving habit. I don't floored my car on every acceleration, I
make sure my gas is filled to the top, and engine and fuel system in tip top shape.
Most of my mileage are highway miles so I tend to get anywhere between 380-420
MPG. The best mileage I've ever gotten was 457 on a full tank of gas. That's
filling the gas all the way up to the neck (Top it off) so it doesn't drain anymore.

I am getting about 300/tank on my 00SE. I just bought it and was kind of disappointed cause that is not much better mileage than my old GMC 4.3L which was pretty thirsty. Hopefully it will improve once the weather warms up.

Here's something interesting concerning this mpg saga. This afternoon I was about to do my fog-light rewire and decided to disconnect my battery. After tearing everything apart I changed my mind and put it all back together, and re-connected my negative terminal of my battery. Now a few minutes ago I went to rent a movie and realised that my DTE reads 389. Now yesterday when I filled her up (top-off) my DTE said 309, how come after 50 miles of driving and disconnecting/reconnecting the battery can my DTE say 389. Is my sheit fooked up?

I drive a various mix of city/hwy and have never gotten less than 20mpg in a tank and never more than 23 mpg.....I have a roof rack too which probably knocks it down a little and a Frankencar intake....
