dont worry about the 7500 or 15k. most of it is just inspections of components. the only thing worthwhile in it is oil change and tire rotation.

I've always had the non-oil change services done at the dealer during the warranty period.

So, I know that reciepts can prove the oil change part, but how do you prove you've done the tire rotation and inspections yourself?

I've never paid the dealer to do anything more than the minimum called for in the manual. I don't do the "additional dealer recommended" crap. I replace my own air filter, and have them oil changes and tire rotations - that's it. I do the inspections on my own by staring at the engine and under the car and making sure nothing is falling apart.

Oil changes come with a free multi-point inspection, but for some reason suckers pay for the same service. If the exhaust shield is falling off, they're going to notice when the car is on the lift without you paying for "inspection". If you didn't notice the scraping sound before that point, you don't deserve the car in the first place.

I've never had my warranty questioned because of this. As a matter of fact, the service writer at my dealer just smiles when I tell him I don't pay for inspections.

YMMV.

Alwa;ys follow what's in the Nissan manual that came with your car, NOT the 'dealer recommended' service-that's bullsh!t plain and simple. Change the oil every 3000 miles, coolant once every two years, brakes and tires as they wear out and put in new parts when then old ones break or as needed to pass inspection. That's all you ever have to with Nissans. I went 120,000 miles with my '95 altima this way and it was running just fine when I traded it for my Max.

I've been debating the same thing myself. I'm at around 8k miles right now and was wondering when I should take it back to the dealer (if at all). I do my own oil changes and haven't had a problem since I drove off the lot in April, except for the hood rattle which I doubt they would fix correctly anyway. The thing is...I'm a little bit paranoid when it comes to my car...and I tend to trust anyone that works at a car dealership about as far as I can see them...so my thinking is if I take it to them when there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, am I all of the sudden going to start having problems "appear" that require it to be taken back to the dealer?

"7500 Mile Service" = Rotate the tires. That's all taht needs to be done at 7.5k miles on your Max.

I think you should be able to get the above done for $15 or less if you look around. $119...wtf. That's why some of them are truly stealerships.

A coupon I've seen mailed out to some Dodge Ram owners by a rival dealership advertised $19.95 "CV Joint Inspections" as a "Manufacturer Recommended Service"... for their CV-less RWD pickup trucks... This + a "discounted" $27.95 oil/filter change...lol. kthx.

Oil changes every 3k interval. Air filter at 15-20k. Rotate every 7.5.
