ABS light

My ABS yellow warning light has just recently started coming on occasionally. It stays on for a day or so and goes back out. My 2k2 max has 45K miles. I know this comes on when the ABS system is malfunctioning and I plan on taking it to the dealer ASAP. Just wondering, could my brake pads need replacing? Could that be causing this?

Thanks.

Moisture on the sensors can be a cause, but I'm not sure if this could be it since you say it goes away after a day or so. Is wet when it happens? If moisture is the reason, after driving a while and the heat from the brakes dries the sensor(s), just pull over and switch off the ignition to reset it. I personally doubt this will do the trick though,

I had the same problem and asked this question a week ago. We recently had a snow storm and right after that my ABS light came on but eventually went away right after I went to the dealer. I went there and they could not accomodate me at the time. But as soon as I drove off the light went away. Well good weather came and I washed my car and the light came back and stayed on this time. Well off to the dealer again and as soon as I pulled up the light went away, go figure. Anyway they said I had a soft code not a hard one and they said if it persists come back. I presented an after market extended waranty and wondering if they didn't want to deal with it. So does water affect the sensor? Anyone please enlighten us here. These warning lights drive me crazy! I have 54,000 on a 2k2
