3K rpms at about 71-73 mph on my Max, but I also have stock 17" rims.

That is about right. It is just in how the company decides to set the gear ratios.

for my 4th gen..

the rpm at the higher speed is actually lower then my 5th gen... I think maybe it's because my 4th gen is an auto, compare to my 5th gen is a 5 speed...

If my TC is locked up (level road, easy on the gas), in OD, 60MPH is about 2,000 RPM. 80MPH is about 2,800 RPM. I have a 2K GXE w/ 15" rims, 205-65R15

Interestingly . . .

if you check the stickers, you'll notice that the Maxima 5-speed actually has worse highway mileage ratings than the automatic. Normally the reverse is true.

Yep, that sounds right... 120KM/H = 3000 RPM, 226KM/H = 6100 RPM.

As for the gas milage, they also reduced the 2001 ratings from 28 MPG to 27 MPG.

If anyone at Nissan is listening... a 6th speed @ .6-.65 would be killer... 70 MPH @ 1500 RPM. The VQ has the guts to do it and it would probably keep me from flooring it @ 70 (120KM/h) and still accelerating like mad. Maybe for 2002... VQ35 + 6sp = SOLD!!!!!
