Consult II

What exactly is a consult II ? Is it some type of Nissan computer or is it just a card that goes into a laptop that hooks up to your car?

It's an $6500 hand-held diagnostic tool used by Nissan/Infiniti that can not only download codes and monitor status info from the ECU, it can also be used to reprogram the ECU and "program" ignition key transponders. If all you want to do is monitor status information from the ECU, read OBD-II codes, and reset the SES light, you can purchase a OBD-II scanner package for under $120 which will work with a cheap laptop or Palm.

Any recommendations for a ODB-II software....I've found a couple on the web ranging from ~120 to 300 for the interface and software...
