CD Player Broken?

I tried to search, but I apparently don't have permission for that ...

MY CD play will no longer accept a CD. It tries to suck it in, but stops about halfway. If you gently push it all the way in, it shows an ERR F3.

This is on the stock system on a 2002 SE. Has anyone had this problem before? Hoping it's an easy fix so I don't have to go to the stealership

Thanks

DaveW

You cant search unless you donate to the site. Did you check in the manual to see if that error code is in there? I don't have mine with me or I would look. Usually those common errors are in the manual.

if the cd goes in half way and comes back out, i am going to have to assume that there is a problem with the mechanism, either its damaged, stuck, etc etc... in which case yes the dealer is the only route out...

Had same problem/error -- only fix was a new CD player from Nissan, under warranty. The part was special ordered, took about 1 week to arrive, and 30 minutes to have a tech throw it in.

This problem can be caused on any stock Max (non-bose) cd player, if you want to upset a fellow Maxima owner...stick a cd in halfway, hold onto it, let the player try to "suck" it in..it will not take in the whole cd. Eject it. From this point on, the CD player will not accept CDs and must be replaced. Hell, this might even work on Bose units.

Good job, Nissan...

Thanks for the info everyone...that's what I was afraid of I'm just out of the warranty...I'll have to check if the extended covers that. I doubt it.

Thanks again.

BOse Sucks

Im really surprised by the Bose in my '02 SE. Can't believe Nissan doesn't recall that P.O.S. A premium sound system shouldn't have to be replaced or fixed after 38k. Mine periodically plays CD's and Cd-r's, but I get the ERR F3 alot. Its really wierd. My dealer said the best route was to go to a private shop. All Nissan does is replace with reconditioned units anyway ( so I hear ). Here in Orlando, the shop I called said the lasers go weak in the Bose. Its about 100 to 150 to fix. What a bunch of crap. My Dad's Chevy Truck CD player plays CD's and CD-R's just fine, 100k and counting......

no offense bro, but did u actually sit there one day and play with your radio? i just dont see why anyone would want to do this, of course that will damage the mechanism, common sense is common sense...

Did it entirely by accident. I got distracted while putting a CD in and it tried to take it in while i was still holding onto it. Also, it will "freeze" like this if you stick a CD in just far enough to catch the auto-insert but then let go of it, and the CD player tries to pull the disc in by itself.
