I just traded my 99 Maxima SE with 2000 Maxima GLE as I needed to get an automatic tanny.

I love everything with my new 2000 Maxima except I am hearing really loud sqeaking/rattling noise from the automatic climate control's fan. It does not get louder as I increase the fan speed but it went away for a few seconds if I change the fan speed (either directions).

I went to the Nissan dealership and they said the noise is normal but it can't be as it hurts my ears after a few minutes. It sounds like high frequency sqeaking noise.

I am wondering if any of you have had the same problem? If so, is there anything I can do to fix it?

Also, anyones know how I can get access to the climate control fan?

i have the same prob and would liek to know how to fix

 

I never heard any squealing, but the fan was definitely a lot louder before I replaced my microfilter. After changing it the system was much quieter. Just a thought.

There's a TSB about the fan noise. The TSB has the dealer just placing some sound deadening material around it, but you're better off just replacing the fan (that's what they did for me). Replacing it is a DIY project. You'll have to remove the glove box (remove the battery ground first and be careful of the airbag!). Check out
