Mobile 1 Oil filter

Does anyone have the part numbers for the Mobile 1 oil filters that will fit an '02.

The M1-108 is a bit small and I wanted to get one a little bigger but don't want to go to big.

I can't search anymore so I'm posting a new thread.

M1-105 fits (VQ35 only) and is bigger than the M1-110. Check out the fluids forum for more info.

For a VQ 3.5 use the M1-105. It's almost twice the size of the M1-110 and it fits perfectly.

Are mobil 1 filters worth the $11 they cost?
I usualy use purolator or sometimes bosch for about 5 or 6 bux, and why would Nissan use the Sentra filter for our VQ35's anyway?

You can find all you'd want to know about this topic and more in the oil forum. Bill99gxe and others have done extensive testing and comparisons on the various oils and filters. Although in my opinion all you have to do is look at the micron rating...I'm willing to bet that the Mobil 1 filters are 2-3% higher than the Purolator or Bosch ones.

I've never used them, but again I believe they were reviewed in the oil forum. Another option is the K&N filter which according to bill99gxe is almost identical internally to the Mobil1 but $2-$3 cheaper.

FYI...if you like the Mobil1 but not the $12 retail price tag keep your eye out for them on Ebay. I was able to get 10 of them and it broke down to about $5 each plus the shipping which was only $10 or so for the whole order.

I'm using the AMSOIL filter and synthetic oil. From another local .org'ers test results, it seems to be an awesome combo...

Thinking about going with Amsoil on the oil change, 25,000 mile change interval
and for about $8 a qt. Lots of moly and zinc (proven wear inhibitors) in there formula.

Couple of things:

Amsoil actually does not contain any Moly. Most others do, Redline has the most. Amsoil is fairly unique in not containing any. Data in the UOA's show this.

The Amsoil filter is a Baldwin/Hastings clone. A fine product, IMHO.

In addition to the Bill's advice in the oil forum, which has been recently updated, I would like to add Wix/Napa Gold/Carquest Premium oil filters as worthy of consideration. The 3 are the same. The base plate holes are larger and number 8, instead of 6 (Mobil 108, K&N, Amsoil, Bosch, and more) for greater flow. They have a nice silicon anti drain back valve instead of black nitrile which most others use in the Max's application.

I feel that flow is as, or more, important than filtration. One could build a filter that traps particles down to 1 micron I suppose, but that dense a filter would also slow down your oil flow and create an un-necessary drop in oil pressure at the filter. I like a good compromise between flow and filtration.

Not really. Amsoil does have a 1 micron bypass filter that filters the oil a little at a time The Mobil 1 filter has shown in numerous reviews to be a tad better than the Amsoil filter, but both are fine. I use the Mobil 1 filters one because they are a tad better and 2, a local store has them for $7.

I use a fram tough gaurd for about $6 (moble 1 oil), has excellent filteration and pass through ability its designed for extended and off road use. They make a filter for Nissan/foreign cars. Fram has never done me wrong!
