on an SC that'll put me in the low 13's in street form and keep my precats....more stealth for what I picture my car to be....when I need boost I'll be revin' high for it.....besides I dont want to blow my first childs ear drums w/in cabin noise/pressure..

Those precats will kill the performance. You will end up to find a straight-thru. Jer from canada gained .7 on 1/4 mile by adding the Y pipe to the SC'ed maxima. I have seen a 2k SC'ed manual without ypipe only getting ~250whp @ 11psi of boost. After he got the ypipe and tune the car, he ended up getting 303whp.

so what goes in (more air/fuel), must come out. you wont be too happy with just adding the SC.

not 2000rpm you will need a little bit more than that~ @ 2000 probably the SC is pulling forward a little. But once the turbo hits 3000...bye bye SC~ Maybe the SC will catch up a little near the redline....but it is too late though.

SC sounds better?
maybe the centrifugal with BOV. but definitly not the root type.

You can count me in on an SC for sure, Stage 1 to start. Your pricing sounds fair for that kit.

IMO, build a 3k sc kit to satisfy the buget minded maxima.org people. Turn a profit, then focus on the Turbo kit for about 6k, which in turn willl draw in the more serious minded buyers. In my case id tottally go for a SC setup. no need for a serious turbo. Im willing to bet you'd sell way more inexpensive SC kits than the turbo kits. So yeah.... make a SC kit for us poor people.THen go crazy wiht a turbo kit.

i second that. People who were skeptics would be far less reluctant to lay down bigger cash, once the higher reponse to superchargers are met (since obviously more people will dabble with a 3 grand proposition, over a 6 grand proposition). I think after people form an opinion of the product, in quanity, your big turbo kit won't be so out of the question any more. Me, personally... I just have no money period : ]

Good luck SSR!

Hmmmn....using Kevs' big azz turbo vs. 2.67(?) SC dyno, by 2500rpm the TC is surpassing the SC. Throw on a T3/T4 or even better a GT30R or smaller BB turbo and you're going to see boost MUCH much sooner. Joaquins' non-BB T3/T4 is at full boost around 2800rpm, so I'd *GUESS* a BB unit would kick in AT LEAST 400rpm sooner, ie 2400rpm. That's full boost and we know damn well Kevs' monster isn't flowing much at 2500rpm and it still surpassed the SC@11psi dyno.

Vortech SC has "lag" until redline. A properly sized turbo will "lag" until 3000-4000rpm max. Lag being the time it takes to reach FULL BOOST, which is all that matters IMO.

Yes, I know. However, you know what SSR is talking about.

SSR,

Just incase you haven't seen this, here is the currently available TURBO "kit" for '95-'01 Maximas:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=276894

From my experience and more importantly others, we know there are some fitment issues and quality issues that are/were being worked out, however basically everything to get you almost there is included but guages/electronics. MY opinion is that you need to sacrifice a few "extras" to get the price down to what people can/will afford, ie an ENTRY LEVEL kit and then go from there.

First, on a Stage I kit, you shouldn't offer tubular headers, instead you should just fab off the stock exhaust manifolds with a reverse y-pipe like the PFI kit does. This works, keeps costs down, and would leave headers for a later option in Stage II or III for people to step up too.

Second, the fuel delivery system should ONLY include a Vortech FMU. Yes, it's crude, but it's cheap and effective for moderate boosting.

Third, leave guages, air/fuel controllers, boost controller, turbo timer, ie auxillary items up to the customer UNLESS you can buy in bulk and offer it at or below internet ***** pricing. Let the WG spring limit boost and of course it would be even cheaper if it's internal.

Last, I'm wondering HOW CHEAP you can get the kit with the cheapest T3/T4 with internal WG, generic BOV, tubing, clamps, connectors, reverse ypipe, and maybe even withOUT an intercooler?

Any ballpark rough *GUESSTIMATE* on whether you could resonably match/beat PFIs' $4K kit w/IC?
