I've owned my 02 SE for a bit over a year and had my HID's stolen twice. I'll never forget how giddy I was when I jammed on the accelerator and shifted between the gears but no matter how fun that was I CAN'T TAKE MY MAX ANYWHERE!!! My friends and girl live in the Bronx and I have to get there by alternative means and pay 445/mo for my max. As much as I do not want to I'm selling my max. (SHIFT_END RANT)

I will be losing a little bit on my sale and am not going to buy another car for a several months. I know how everyone like to bash Honda's but I was thinking of converting to the darkside and getting a 5th gen Honda Prelude I know I know most of you are thinking but I can't deal with not being able to take my car where I need.

Bottom line I want to spend no more than 12k on a late 90's car with less than 60k miles (at most). NO CIVIC's !!! PLEASE HELP, Any suggestions?

 

Yea, get the 2k AE headlights and save yourself 11,500 bux...

 

1) 2001-01 Headlights, or 2001 AE headlights and 2000-01 taillights
2) 2000-01 Grille
Or trade for a 4th gen Maxima, whose owner want's to swap for a 5th gen

 

i say go with #1. give it one more shot. put some halogen headlights from a 2000/2001 max on your car. the people ripping off the HIDs will know the difference. you'll still have the power and the car you love but no one is going to bother to steal your headlights. all you have to give up is the HIDs.

 

Yea just get a set of halogen lights and keep your max

 

keep the max...at least another 2 years until the resale value stabilizes

 

Get the 01 AE lights. Shouldn't cost more then $275.

Definitely get the 2k1 AE lights. Same thing happened to me. I now changed them to 2k1 lights. As a matter of fact, I hope they steal them too, then I can get money for my 2k2 insurance and put another pair of 2k1 lights back on.

 

to those who have AE headlights on their 02/03: are the headlights all you need? did you have to get any wiring/harnesses or other hardware? how difficult is it to remove the hid assembly and install the AE's? all this talk about hid's getting stolen is making me paranoid, and i just wanna save myself some headache.

 

...but I heard the HIDs add 25 more horsepower!!!

Seriously, though, you will enjoy your max just as much with halogens.....think about it...you were fine with halogens on your previous cars, weren't you (when HIDs were not available)?

 

Yup, sounds like swapping your headlights/tails wll be the best option. You'll end up making a profit when you sell your stock stuff, and get to keep the car.
