Quickest manual Maxima?

Quickest manual Maxima?
I am in the market to replace my good ol 95 SE 5speed and have only driven a 2000 SE 5 speed and found that car to be SLOWER than my 95. What other years or models are the fastest manual 5 speeds or 6 speeds? I am even considering an Altima 3.5 SE to get the same speed as my 95. Thanks!

the 4th gen (gxe) 5spd weighs considerably less than a 2k-2k1 5spd. In stock form the 2k-2k1 has heavy 17 stock rims weighing in at 50lbs a piece and just cause it has a higher peak horsepower dosesn't make it faster.
this taken from www.maxima.org-----> shop talk ----> battle of the 3.0's. Try reading that article, it analyzes power to weight ratio, wheel weights, etc.
fastest NA 4th gen w/ slicks: 13.8 @ 101 mph
fastest stock 5th gen (that i've heard of): 15.1 @ 91 mph (?)

they both run the same hp/tq until higher rpms. The 5th gen weights more than the 4th gen. The 4th gen has a great power to weight ratio under 6200 rpms that a 5th gen.
if you mean faster as in a highway run stock vs. stock... then yes. Otherwise everything else is just relative.

"In stock form the 2k-2k1 has heavy 17 stock rims weighing in at 50lbs a piece and just cause it has a higher peak horsepower dosesn't make it faster.
" If you want 17" it's an option in the SE, but a 2k SE comes stock with 16".
The power to weight ratio of the 00 vs. the 4th gen is noticeably better in the 00. It's only about 200 lbs heavier but has 32 extra horsepower.
Eitherway, it's not just me saying it's faster - it gets faster numbers from every review I've read. You also can't compare a 4th gen with _slicks_ to a stock car running with stock tires!
Also, though very hard to find, a 00 GXE can be had with the 5 speed, and the 15"ers.

From what I can tell, the playing field is level across the Maxima years 95-04. The 2k2+ are the quickest stock, but they don't respond near as well to mods as the 4th gens. The 00-01s are capable of 14.3s with just an intake and y-pipe. Pretty much a manual 95-04 Maxima with NA mods is capable of lower 14s@98mph on street tires. It just depends on which generation and year you want.

Darbowmach, I might just be in the market to sell my 2k3 TE 6 sp., if my local friendly Infiniti dealer can get me into a G35 at the right price.
The 6 speed is admittedly a little notchy, but not bad once you get used to it. I haven't regretted my 6 speed for one second

oh, btw, my GXE never came with 17s. Ever.
2nd, my GXE wasn't "considerably" heavier than a 4g 5spd.

oh, it also had eibach pro-kits (might have helped with the launch), a RSB, and 18s that weigh 45lbs each.

the aftermarket tyres also helped out with traction issues, but, i was still getting 2.2-2.3 60's (which is crap).
so, a 00-01 5spd GXE is very capable of getting 14.90s, imho and experience.
