2k1 Fog Lights, why two harnesses?

I'm in the middle of replacing my fog bulbs (it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be based on other people's horror stories, I guess the hints that were on here were a big help, though.

Anyway, I was looking around in there and I have two harnesses that look identical. One is tied up and out of the way, and both seem to be coming from the same tube if I follow it back a little ways. Any ideas why there are two? Would it be for yet another set of fogs/diving lights/etc??? I'm at a loss. The two harness plugs look identical, BTW.

I'll attach a pic in here so you can see what I'm talking about...

Did you buy this car used?
I have a 2k1 and only have the black.
Only conclusion I can come up with is your black plug was bad.

Probably white one is spliced up above.

Is white on both sides or only one??

could be a plug for just another sensor such as the low washer fluid sensor. it doesn't really matter as long as your foglights work

In my haste to finish the second side (only took 5 minutes!) I just realized I forgot to look to see if it was the same on both sides! DOH! Oh well. Yeah, I did get it used, so maybe the splice as you said is the reason.

Both of the fogs work, so all is well. I put in Silverstars and they look really nice. It's raining out and I'm getting ready to go out and drive, so I'll see how well they work in rain.

It is a passenger ambient sensor, as stated in the 'installation of 2k1 fogs' on the courtesyparts.com page...
