crappy AM reception

Is crappy AM reception characteristic of a 00 Max? I have the antenna adapter for the aftermarket unit I put in. Could the adapter be the problem?

I didn't realize that people still listened to AM radio. I have no idea of my reception because I don't listen to AM. I usually play FM or CD's.
