Non-Bose cd player is kaput. . .

Today I took the cd out of the cd player and tried to insert another one. It took the disc about 1/3 of the way in and then stopped and started making noises. I tried a couple times to put a cd back in later in the day, but no dice. Wish I had the money to put in an mp3 w/ sirius. For now I better scrounge around in the closet and look for old tapes to listen to.

sucks man. You can pick up decks on ebay..sometimes 6 disc ones...not sure of the quality tho. Mine's still kickin for now....I want to keep the stock look of the dash so I'm having a hard time deciding what to do...if anything, when mine craps out.

that sucks, it also happened in my Accord with my Blaupunkt San Jose (bought from Ebay) the first day i bought it, so I returned it (Florida-based "IkesElectronics" didn't refund me the extra shipping charges) and they gave me a new one

just out of curiosity, what kind of H.U. did u have? i have stock Bose, but am looking to just replace the h.u. with a good looking, good sounding mp3 unit and keep everything else the same

and since u had an aftermarket one, did u get convertors and what not? im really deficient in this subject matter..

It happened to me in my 2k2 (also non-Bose) in EXACTLY the same manner and I got some ERR 03 (or something) message on the display.

It took me 6 weeks to get it replaced. If it wasnt for the warrantly, I'd have gone for an aftermarket system.

If you have a stock bose, I wouldn't recommend getting a different HU

It's non bose and I got the same ERR 03 message. Damn I don't have the money to replace this POS, but I can't deal w/ listening to the radio all the time. May be time to hit up CC or BB on a day they do free install if you buy a deck. . .

Stock Bose sux, if mine went out I would upgrade to a nice aftermarket unit with satellite radio capability and RCA's for amps. Running aftermarket amps with bose is not worth it. You'll loose on sound quality.

as a temporary solution, just get a tape adapter and use a portable cd player or something with it. this way you can still listen to cd's while you save up for a new head unit. or you could go my route, and use it in conjunction with a 20 GB mp3 player

Yep, if your going to replace the HU on a Bose, replacing the speakers as well as the amps is a good idea.

Yeah, well we weren't going to buy the spec, but we got a pretty good deal on it and couldn't pass it up. Plus it's just after christmas and we gotta pay that ****e off. It's just something I'm going to have to deal w/. Worst part is my new job which will require a 1 hour commute each day. . .

If you're not beyond your 3/36, have the dealer replace it. If you are beyond it, maybe an OEM changer is the way to go.
