I can't do a search so I'm hoping someone can help me, my apologies if this has already been discussed.

My car is a '03 SE auto - afterwork today I went to my car to drive home and when I put the car in 'D' the AT Check, Check Engine and Traction Off (even though it was on) lights came on as I was pulling out of the spot. The car was acceleration really slowly so I immediately pulled over, shut the engine off for a minute and restarted. Once restarted only the Check Engine light stayed on. I tried shutting down again, this time for 5 minutes, but it didn't go away. I decided to drive home and everything seemed fine except the SES light never went away.

Does anyone know what may have caused this? I just checked the manual and it doesn't help much. There is a passage that states, "If the vehicle is driven under extreme conditions, such as excessive wheel spinning and subseqent hard braking, the fail-safe system may be activated. This will occur even if all electrical circuits are functioning properly." Another paragraph says, "While the vehicle can be driven under these circumstances please note that the automatic transmission will be locked in third gear". I figured that's what happened before I stopped and restarted the car. The only thing I could think of is since it's cold as hell out (I'm in NYC), it's doing funny things to the sensors. I don't usually stand on the gas or brakes, especially when road conditions are so crappy out right now. Has this happened to anyone else? Of course I'm going to bring it to Nissan to check out but this whole thing spooked me since the car only has 11k miles.
