Dealer dumb, Car is crap.

I have owned 2 Maxima's, 01 SE and 03 SE, and both of them had the same problems. I have serviced at the same dealer. Finally yesterday, I brought my car in for the 10th time in like 10 months, and bingo bongo, they have to fix my control arm on the drivers side for the 3rd time! I fixed 2 of those on my 01 Maxima. How can this be? I baby my car over bumps and everything, and I only have 14,000 KM's. I'm not kidding when I say this, but the 02 Sentra I was driving on loaner felt better put together then both my Max's.

As for the dealer, they are idiots. The only normal person there went to work for Nissan Canada Corp. I brought them the TSB for the Hood shake, and they told me they didnt need it. What happens, they tell me its the Hood Deflector causing the problem.

I bring them the TSB for the ignition coil causing faulty Radio Ground Noise, they say they dont need it, and later Tell me the Ground Noise is coming from the Winter Tires! The idiots thought Ground Meant THE ROAD! I freakin gave them the TSB, and they didn't even use it

Im tired of these idiots and these cars. Im offically out of the Nissan Race after this Car.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer's been screwing up something all along, or told you they had to replace the control arm when they did something else...

I have no Freakin Clue. I think part of the problem is I never bought My Cars from there, cause I got better deals eleswhere. But the service guy didnt know me. All I know, from day one, I had drives side suspesnion issues. When I mean day one, I mean day one. When I left the lot, I heard the moans. at 240km, I changed that side, then again at 2400km along with driveshaft and other ****e. As for any other dealers, NONE really. Nissan in Toronto is so poorly placed around that they are all in High congension ares except this one, 5km from my house. They get offended when I bring them a TSB, last foreman didn't care. Anyhow, Im gunna be a **** and talk to the owner, who seems to always as me questions when I go there, and asks me why I didnt buy a car from him. Now I'll tell him, your price is high, and your SERVICE SUCKS!

Become a DYI mechanic, save thousands, don't have to put up with idiots. We all have our opinions on our car's, mine is almost 9 yrs old, and with 209,000 miles and counting, I couldn't be happier with its reliability.

If you go to Ottawa with any regularity go to Walkley Nissan. I went to them from Montreal for 2 years.

In certain respects I agree with my Greek compatriot. While my current and 3rd Max has been pretty much bulletproof (knock on wood) the dealership experience has been less than pleasant; and this has ALWAYS been the case with all 3 Maximas to date. Alas my Nissan membership will come to an end when I either drive my current car into the ground or sell it.

My brother is on his 2nd Acura TL, he just got the '04, and he has ALWAYS had sterling service from ACURA service; and not to mention I drove the '04 and it is bad azzzzz! My car will be paid off in October.... and I think I will eventually be going to the ACURA camp......but I will always love my 3 Maximas.

I agree with you 100% We own 3 maximas a 1990 with 205K a 95 with 155K and a 2002 with 30k and a 69 camaro . I do all my own maintaince (except warrenty work on the 2002) and all three max's are rock solid. As far as Dealer work I have had my 02 into Woodbury Nissan in New Jersey for the interminite door lock problem the bose radio problem and with wind noise problem. They repaired the wind noise problem while i waited and ordered the radio and the harness for the door lock problem. They called me within a week when the parts arrived. I made an appointment to have the work done this past monday. Since my wife could not pick me up when i dropped the car off they actually had some one drive me home (about six miles) and when i picked up my car it was fixed and WASHED. Thats right they washed the friggen car. I have never had problem with Woodbury nissan in their work or their attitude. When ever they work on my car someone from there calls me within two to three weeks to make sure the service i got was good. They ask about the service writer and ask if I have any reccomendations for better service. I know alot of people have had bad experiences with nissan but I am sure there are many who have had no problems at all. I think when some one has a problem they tell the whole world they received bad service ( and rightfully so), but when people get good service they really dont talk about it we just expect it as the customer.

I'll be the second.....I have taken my max to Brown's Fairfax Nissan (sisterstore of Brown's Sterling Nissan where I bought it) twice and the service has been excellent....fixed the problem both times under warranty, even though one of the times it should have been non-warranty work according to my warranty book....gave me rides to work/subway both times and washed the car the 1st time (not the 2nd - it was the day after xmas and was a madhouse there)...

I am happy to hear that you guys have had very good experiences with Nissan service.......but I believe that you are the exception and not the rule.

As I mentioned above..... this will be my last Maxima. I will either go with an Acura or Lexus next because of what I have heard from friends and family about excellent service when it's time to bring in your car.........especially if Acura continues to come out with cars like the '04 TL.

Yes the service at my local Acura dealer (Pohanka) was always good, first with my Integra and then with my Accord...won't argue with you there....

Then again, I live in Fairfax County, which is the 2nd richest county in the country....so probably alot of rich snobby people going into the Acura and Nissan dealers here - so they have to have good service or the **** will hit the ceiling....(wish I was one of those rich snobby people!)

Listen, what I noted in my original message was that they were dumb. The notes they put in my report are written for the most ignorent of people. I have had good service on occassion, but I only work with this dealer because of location. They are small and busy, worst combination. YOU CAN Never just go there without appointment, even if you have serious problem, cause they are busy (or so they say). I brought my freakin car in for Radio - Ignition Coil ground Noise TSB, the service manager says we dont need a copy of the TSB. What happens, in my notes, the mechanic Notes " Checked ground Noise while driving; Noise is caused my winter tires". That is stupidity, and its been commom from Nissan dealers. I have used 3 in my time, and i find them all of them are just difficult, and I think i know why. Somewhere in the computer, tells the service manager whether or not I bought the car from there. I never deal with my purchasing dealer, because of location and price. And everytime I have proceeded to a new dealer, they ask me why I didn'y buy a car from there. I'm sure unofficially they give preference to buying customers. Anyhow, I have written enough. I KNOW there are happier people then angry ones, but, can't I just get one break?

Actually paul,

You are forgetting to mention you had an accident that messed up your suspension and your rim... Your troubles may lie with the people who did the original repair work.

As for my self, my moms 99 Maxima SE, is a GEM, never even 1 warranty claim at all..

My 2002 maxima, was the biggest PIECE OF $HIT in the world. Everybit of the car sucked @ss.

Now my 2003 Maxima, Never been to the dealer for warranty work, even after 35,000kms..

WEIRD

Malaka, you fail to forget that I had repair work done twice before the accident, which, in atcuality, didnt so much effect the suspension, it was the other side which was hit, and 2, the rims were only changed cause they were scratched. Like I said, Day 1 this car was noisy from the front end....
