how does this car compare to a max?

one of my buddies has one of those mazdaspeed protege's with not much done to it but an intake and boost controller. He talks so much garbage about how fast his car is. How fast are these things actually? i know they are somewhat quick, but does anyone know how would it fair against me? (2k auto)

Mazdaslowspeed Protege?

Acceleration (0-60 mph): 7.92 sec. per Edmunds.com

I say you kill him, especially if manually shifting.

If it's been minimally modded it has a minimal chance.

Stock the MS Protege gets mid 15's 1/4, so it really depends what this guy has done to it.

With an intake and boost controller, I would think it would be a close race. What are your mods? If stock, there's a chance you will lose.

Agreed.

Though the MP3 Turbo (aka Mazdaspeed Protege) is minimally tuned from the factory, I think a good driver could take down a 2k/2k1 auto Max.

However, while the upgraded intake and boost controller normally workout very well, I recall reading that the MS Protege is pretty much @ the threshold of max boost w/o detonation. Any more boost and it may be "problematic".

just my $.02

yeah, that is true. I dont think hes running much more boost, considering the turbo in that car is soo small. Have you ever even heard the BOV? it sounds funny imo.
